Pietermaritzburg - A 20-year-old who allegedly tried to sell her son on Gumtree was on Monday expected to enter a plea at the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate's Court.
During her last appearance earlier this month, the woman withheld her plea as the court heard she still needed to have further consultations with her legal aid attorney.
Last month, she abandoned her application for bail and the court was told that she had planned to plead guilty.
The woman, whose identity is being withheld to protect her child's identity, is facing a charge under the Human Trafficking Act for allegedly selling her child.
She was caught after police set a trap, responding to her gumtree advertisement.
The woman was arrested after receiving R5 000 and handing over her baby to an undercover cop at a fast-food outlet.
At the time, she told the undercover policewoman that she was selling her child because his father would not offer any financial support, leaving her unable to raise the boy.
