Durban prosecutor allegedly caught with cocaine

Durban - A prosecutor will be back in the Durban Magistrate's Court in December after she was charged with being in possession of a large quantity of drugs, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Wednesday.

According to sources close to the investigation, members of the Durban Organised Crime Unit arrested Gayle Antoinette Greyling, 35, at her Withernsea Road home after she was allegedly found with cocaine in her possession.

A source who asked not to be named said officers went to the home on October 7 after a tip-off that a flat in Barbara Court was allegedly used as a storage place for drugs.

Inside they found a plate with some white powder, some clear paper normally used to sniff cocaine and a medical aid card. A purse containing a cigarette lighter and a packet of clear crystal meth was also found.

Greyling allegedly said the drugs belonged to her boyfriend, who at the time was in custody for another matter.

The number of a well-known drug dealer was found on a phone confiscated from the flat.

KZN police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane confirmed that Greyling had appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on October 7.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Nontobeko Duma said Greyling would be back in court on December 8.
