Man critical after being crushed between two trucks

Durban – A man is in critical condition after being crushed between two trucks on Peters Road, Red Hill on Monday.

According to Crisis Medical spokesperson Kyle van Reenen, paramedics on arrival found the man "wedged between the two vehicles have sustained life threatening injuries".

"Advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilise the man before he was placed on to a mechanical ventilator to assist him in breathing. Once stabilised, a delicate extrication process took place as emergency services worked to free the man who was then taken to hospital for the immediate care he required.

"It's unclear what caused the incident but bystanders allege the man was working on the vehicle when it's parking breaks failed, causing it to roll forward."

Van Reenen said the "necessary investigations will be done".

The man remained in a critical condition.
