Bloemfontein – The bail application of Motlatsi Moqeti, accused of conspiring to murder the wife of alleged genital mutilator Peter Frederiksen, was postponed in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
The State told the court that a witness and phone calls link Moqeti, 31, who is in a wheelchair, to the killing of 28-year-old Anna Matseliso Molise.
Moqeti, who is said to have contacts in the criminal underworld, was allegedly approached by Frederiksen who offered to pay for an organised hit on his wife.
Frederiksen was arrested on September 17 after 21 clitorises were found in his freezer.
Molise, who helped the police with information about Frederiksen, reportedly refused to be placed in a witness protection programme.
The Hawks have previously described her killing as a suspected hit.
She was a key witness in the trial against her husband.
During his bail application Frederiksen told the court that he was unaware of his wife's death until he had seen it in the media.
He faces charges including assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm, manufacturing child pornography, distribution of child pornography, possession of child pornography, conspiracy to murder and bigamy.
Moqeti's case was postponed to December 10 for a formal bail application.
