Man injured in Alberton chopper crash

Johannesburg - A man was injured in a helicopter crash in a field near Kliprivier Road in Alberton, paramedics said on Wednesday.

ER24 spokesperson Russell Meiring said that the man, in his 60s, sustained moderate injuries.

"Paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene to find the helicopter in the middle of the field. Two occupants were found seated next to the helicopter," he said.

"One man had sustained moderate injuries in the incident. The second occupant, a man, fortunately escaped without injuries," Meiring added.

Paramedics treated the man before he was taken to a hospital in a private medical helicopter for further treatment.

Meiring said the cause of the crash was unknown.
