Johannesburg - The missing one month old baby who was snatched from her mother's bed while they were sleeping has been found.
A 20-year-old female was arrested on Saturday morning when she was found with the child at her house in Refilwe section, Mandela village in Hammanskraal.
Police spokesperson, Constable Herman Moremi said police received a tip-off regarding the child's whereabouts.
"The suspect was found with the one month old baby boy who was reported missing on Thursday. The police received information from member of the family who saw the child." he said.
The child went missing in the early hours of Thursday morning. The grandmother saw the child's blanket on the floor and went into the room to enquire about.
The mother woke up to the sight of an empty bed.
The window of the room where she was sleeping was open and the child gone.
Moremi said the suspect alleged that she came across two males holding a baby. She says they threw the baby at her and ran away.
"The baby was taken to hospital for medical check-up and was found in good health and was returned to the mother who is also 20 years old," said Moremi.
The suspect was detained at Temba police station and will appear at the Moretele magistrate court soon on charges of kidnapping.
