Sky News's Alex Crawford says it looks likely that Judge Masipa will make her sentencing announcement next Tuesday.

16 Oct 2014

Pistorius has just been escorted out of court by eight police officers.

16 Oct 2014

Court adjourns until tomorrow (Friday) 09:30.

16 Oct 2014

Nel: I have not received the defence's argument. They have indicated they are still working on it.

16 Oct 2014

Masipa had earlier said: Mr Roux, you had every right to object, but not the way you objected.

Roux: I agree and I apologise.

16 Oct 2014

Nel confirms no more State witnesses. State suggests adjournment until tomorrow morning.

Do you think you will finish tomorrow, Masipa asks.

16 Oct 2014

Masipa apologises to Nel for not addressing his objection immediately.

16 Oct 2014

Nel and Roux have entered court. So just waiting on Judge Masipa then.

16 Oct 2014

The Pistorius's have apparently asked Roux to have Schultz and the rest barred from court, says Barry Bateman.

16 Oct 2014

More police in court. As well as justice department marshals.

16 Oct 2014

The court is filling up, tweets Barry Bateman. Batchelor and Mortimer are there. But no Schultz. Aimee is also back in court, looking composed.

Schultz tells Oscar Trial Channel he's not going back into the courtroom. He hasn't been asked to leave but has decided of his own accord not to go back.

16 Oct 2014

Mikey Schultz denies making threat against Pistorius family saying, Mandy Wiener tweets. She quotes him as saying: "Clearly the Pistorius family are a bunch of liars, just like Oscar."

16 Oct 2014

The Guardian's David Smith tweets: "Spoke to court police officer who said Pistorius family have requested Nel and Roux to be consulted on application to have Schulz barred."

16 Oct 2014

Mandy Wiener tweets: "Schultz walked out of court clearly worked up complaining that Pistorius family 'thought they owned the front row'."

16 Oct 2014

Frenzy in court as police surround Pistorius bench. Mikey Schultz allegedly mouthed the words "fuck you"to Aimee Pistorius, say reporters. She was said to be in tears, while Carl Pistorius was described as looking "annoyed".

16 Oct 2014

Nel requests to stand down until 14:00. He promises tomorrow (Friday) will be the last day for argument from State.

Court adjourns.

16 Oct 2014

Nothing further for Modise. He's excused.

16 Oct 2014

Judge asks Modise if skills training in prison mandatory? He says some programmes are.

16 Oct 2014

Masipa looks through notes... Silence in court. She asks Modise a "general interest" question.

16 Oct 2014

OP wearing spectacles, sits in dock intently looking through notes.

16 Oct 2014

Nel almost sounds tired as he says "I have nothing further, m'lady."

16 Oct 2014

Nel: Would dept deal with every case on its merit. Modise: That is correct.

16 Oct 2014

Nel: We've heard from Roux about actions against dept. We're not denying that. Am I right? ZM: That is correct.

16 Oct 2014

But, Nel says, there are many more people obeying the rules.

Nel takes a swipe at Roux's sarcasm.

16 Oct 2014

And Roux suddenly concludes with Modise (ZM). Nel returns.

As in EVERY dept in this country, every organisation, there are people who don't follow rules... - Nel. There will be action taken against these people.

ZM agrees.

16 Oct 2014

ZM: The assessment will say Mr Pistorius must go to prison hospital, so he will go there...it's common knowledge he's a paraplegic.

16 Oct 2014

ZM says OP will know after six hours which hospital section he will go to after assessment.

16 Oct 2014

ZM says if OP is admitted, he will be assessed and then decided where he will be detained.

ZM: The department has to asses his needs. Nothing is taken for granted.

16 Oct 2014

Roux: Your evidence it's not suitable for OP to go to the normal local prison?

16 Oct 2014

ZM: With respect, when I see a doctor at consulting room, I pay for his time...it's very expensive if he travels to prison.

16 Oct 2014

ZM says food bought to hospital unit - those well enough fetch it from serving area.

16 Oct 2014

ZM: We have one resident doctor and our offenders are referred from time to time to clinics and hospitals around Pretoria.

16 Oct 2014

Roux wants to know what is in place to protect the patients from other ill patients. ZM assures the advocate there is medical protocol.

16 Oct 2014

Roux asks about disease exposure.

ZM says they're able to identify "risky" patients with diseases such as TB. They have machines. Roux wants to know what kind. ZM pulls out papers.

16 Oct 2014

Roux is asking what the patients in the hospital wing suffer from. 'ZM doesnt know. Roux says many in jail suffer from TB. Roux says he will refer to a report.

16 Oct 2014

Roux: I'm told that there is mix of awaiting trial and sentenced prisoners in jail hospital.

ZM: That's not incorrect.

16 Oct 2014

ZM says an offender can approach unit head if he feels need to see a psychologist.

16 Oct 2014

ZM says that at Pretoria Central, there are 22 single cells, of which seven are occupied. There are seven nurses during day, two at night.

Roux says there are 5 psychologists, one doctor, for 7 000 inmates. ZM confirms this to be so.

16 Oct 2014

ZM got information pertaining to the hospital section.

16 Oct 2014

Court resumes.

Roux: Did you speak to people during the adjournment? ZM: I spoke to the deputy commissioner and director of Correctional Services. Joe Makgoba, and others.

16 Oct 2014

Read an excerpt from EWN reporters Mandy Wiener and Barry Bateman's book Behind the Door, The Oscar Pistorius and Reeva Steenkamp Story.

The excerpt starts: "The black Mercedes-Benz hearse pulled up outside the white, weather-beaten chapel at the Victoria Park Crematorium in Port Elizabeth.

"Personnel from Doves Funeral Services took their positions on either side of the coffin holding Reeva Steenkamp’s body and carried it through to a side entrance.

"It was draped in a cloth and an arrangement of white flowers was perched on top. Slight cloud gathered overhead as the so-called friendly city’s ubiquitous wind whistled through the trees."
