Hazlewood stars, Australia to chase 187

Adelaide - Josh Hazlewood stepped up in the absence of injured Mitch Starc, snaring six wickets to lead an Australian attack that dismissed New Zealand for 208 on Sunday and set a target of 187 for victory in the first day-night cricket test.

New Zealand added 92 runs for the loss of five wickets in the first session on day three, continuing the dominance of ball over bat, a rarity at the Adelaide Oval in the first three days.

Hazlewood returned a career-best 6-70 and Mitch Marsh had 3-59.

Mitchell Santner scored 45 from 88 balls for New Zealand before he was stumped while attempting to charge offspinner Nathan Lyon.

It leaves a potentially tricky run-chase for Australia, which has a 1-0 lead in the three-test series after a 208-run victory in Brisbane and a high-scoring draw in Perth.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
