Cape Town - SASCOC has paid tribute to former its former CEO, and former CEO of Athletics South Africa, Banele Sindani.
According to reports, Sindani, 60, was shot and killed in a burglary at his home in Ruimsig, Roodepoort on Monday night.
"It is with a heavy heart that SASCOC have learnt of the death of Banele Sindani," SASCOC said via an official statement.
Current SASCOC CEO Tubby Reddy lent his voice to the condolences.
"We mourn the sudden loss of our former colleague Banele, who as the first CEO of SASCOC set an example of good sports administration," said Reddy.
"As the country's macro sports movement we are deeply saddened by the loss of such an influential sports administrator who contributed immensely to South African sport for two decades."
SASCOC president Gideon Sam also expressed his condolences.
"Banele played a vital role in many of our structures in sport," said Sam.
"His untimely death robs us of a seasoned sport administrator. Our thoughts are with his family at this time."
