Cape Town - Richie McCaw has only been on social media for a few weeks but he's already gathered a massive following.
According to the Stuff website, the former All Blacks skipper who led New Zealand to victory in two consecutive Rugby World Cups joined Facebook on November 3 and already has almost 500 000 'likes'.
Social media savvy former team-mate Dan Carter said he talked McCaw into the move immediately following the All Blacks' World Cup win over Australia in England on October 31.
However, McCaw has a way to catch up to team-mate Carter, who has more than 935 000 'likes'.
McCaw, 34, announced his retirement after a record 148 Tests, of which he was on the winning side on an incredible 131 occasions with 15 defeats and two draws.
McCaw scored 27 tries for the All Blacks.
