Chenene gets Chippa trial - reports

Cape Town - Former Moroka Swallows winger Bennet Chenene has been handed a chance to get his career back on track after being offered a trial at Chippa United.

Chenene has been in the footballing wilderness since being released by Supersport in July after failing to secure a regular starting birth at Matsatsantsa.

According to Kickoff, Chippa United have confirmed the diminutive winger will arrive in Port Elizabeth today for an assessment by the Chilli Boys staff.

"Chippa United have agreed to give Benito [Chenene] a chance," a unnamed source.

"He will be here for a few days for an assessment. The team will make a decision over the next few days whether to sign him or not."

Chenene is considered a PSL journeyman at the age of 31, having enjoyed spells at Amazulu, Orlando Pirates, Bloemfontein Celtic, Moroka Swallows and, more recently, Supersport United.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
