Cape Town - Orlando Pirates defender Patrick Phungwayo admits the constant travelling to games outside of South Africa is starting to have adverse effects on the squad.
The Buccaneers have had an admirable run to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup this year and many rate them as one of the favourites to lift the trophy.
However, their continental form effectively meant the Bucs squad went without an off-season as many of the group games were played after the end of last term.
This, coupled with the distance the team has travelled over the last six months, is starting to take its toll, according to Phungwayo.
"I think the problem [with playing in the CAF Confederation Cup] is travelling a lot," he told Soccer Laduma.
"For example, the last time we went to AC Leopards in the Congo, we had to travel by bus for seven hours after flying there.
"You understand that happens the day before the game, and then you come back and play at home again.
"It is strenuous. It's not only the fatigue; it's the mind also. I think we have been in this situation before where we played in the CAF Champions League."
