Elephants are an awesome, albeit, common site in the Kruger National Park. So you can imagine our excitement when we found this post by the folks over at Wild Card on Facebook.
Seems one of their readers snapped an image of what appears to be an elephant mother and her albino calf, taken in the Tshokwane and Satara area in January of this year.
Wild Card sourced the opinion of Professor Rudi van Aarde, of Pretoria University, who took a look at the images taken by David Johnson and was unable to confirm if it is in fact an albino elephant or if the colouration was due to a sand and mud bath.
We contacted SANParks Spokesperson Rey Thakhuli who said he would have to speak to the rangers at Kruger directly and get back to us with the info.
Until then, if you are visiting the Kruger region any time soon and you happen to spot this pinkish looking fellow – send us a pic and help solve the mystery,
