Cape Town - Encountering one elephant bull in musth while on a self-drive safari is bad enough. But being stuck between two?
That just sounds terrifying.
A recent video uploaded to the Kruger Sightings YouTube channel, shows exactly how tense things can get in this situation.
During musth elephant bulls produce 40 to 60 times more testosterone than they normally do, which could cause aggressive behaviour. It is always recommended that people remain a safe distance from the animals suspected of being in this phase.
Fortunately the elephants in the video remain calm throughout and the vehicle and its occupants leave the scene unscathed.
In a less fortunate incident recently, two game rangers at Sabi Sands in the Kruger National Park were left a little bit rattled when a large bull charged their vehicle and poked his one tusk right through the bodywork.
