PICS: A reminder that camels are most stylish travellers in the world

Cape Town - Camels are now catching the eyes of Pakistani travellers with their festive haircuts.

The camel is undoubtedly one of the hardiest adventurers on the planet. With a little help from a good stylist they are now also the most fashionable and make the desert, market place and driest outdoor conditions look breezy. This is how you do "effortless" desert chic people, at least that's what they'd like us to believe.

The Pakistani city of Karachi is Asia’s biggest cattle market. Thousands of people travel here to purchase animals that are beautifully decorated, says Buzzfeed Travel. Recently, barbers have been creating stylish cuts and designs in the camel’s coats.

This is not to be confused with the other fashionable camel coats in the world. Clever barbers have proven that we all benefit from looking good and that nothing beats a bit of glamour on your travels.

According to Buzzfeed, owners think that the decorative designs add value to the camels, especially when camels are bought for the Muslim festival Eid-al-Adha.

According to Caters News, photographer Anas Hamdani said that she first witnessed the art form this year, when she accompanied her family to buy a camel. It is no doubt that the work takes serious patience and care.

Hamdani told Caters that buyers look for the most beautiful camels and the barbers are a useful service in this regard.

Ali Hassan, a farmer and part-time camel barber says that he visits Karachi before the Eid-ul-Adha festival every year, in the hopes of making a good profit for his haircut services. He charges up to three thousand rupees (about R614.55 at R0.20 /?) per camel cut. Each haircut can take up to four hours.
