PICS: Cape Town's NEW accommodation obsession - 91 Loop Boutique Hostel

Cape Town - If you are looking for a fun and upbeat place to spend the night, party up a storm or enjoy smashing company - lately, Cape Town is going gaga for the Boutique Hostel 91 Loop Street.

Owners found the building in a dilapidated state - strewn with the old, the ugly and scary!

But with their creative minds and skilled business strategies they have transformed the building into a world-class backpacker fit for any travelling soul, foody or party animal.

91 Loop is a modern space, with wide windows looking out onto the street and lots of colourful murals and art detailed across its walls.

A sort of hipster haven - it is located smack bang in the city centre of where the cool kids hang out on Bree and the party animals party it up on Long.

If you need cheap and funky accommodation while travelling through the mother city or simply want a getaway from your girlfriend, here's all you need to know about sleeping, eating and drinking at 91 Loop...

What - 91 Loop is a Boutique Hostel - a swanky sort of backpackers filled with international and local travellers. They have their own restaurant Honeybadger and a coffee shop, On Longmarket, serving ground goodness to soothe everyone's hangover or inspire the need for their rather over-priced turban range...

Sleep - The hostel comfortably sleeps over 60 travellers. You have the option of a cool communal dorm fitted with white sleeping pods, four-bed rooms with en-suite, six-bed rooms with en-suite, all female eight sleeper room with en suite, or double or twin-bed rooms with en suites.

The pod experience deserves a special mention - Each guest who has booked a room or bed at the hostel is issued with a card. The card gets you access to the rooms as well as the pod dorm. As the pods do not have numbers, you swipe your card once in the dorm and your pod will light up in a cool neon colour!

The upstairs rooms and communal sleeping pods are mostly sound proofed from the downstairs party scene and street. If you opt for an early night you'll probably be woken up by a few drunken lads or trip over someone's shoes in the dark, but it's mostly quite peaceful and the beds are super comfy.

Eat - The Honeybadger offers breakfast lunch and supper and a good selection of drinks.

Do -  If you're not sleeping, eating or drinking or using their free WiFi - you could hang out in the courtyard, get the party started with a braai, whip out a few board games or flirt with your French crush!

On Longmarket is often transformed into a pop-up shop showcasing local art and designs - and drawing the attraction of art lovers every First Thursday.

Nearby attractions - Nearby attractions include Clarkes, Tjing Tjing, Manila Bar, Honest Chocolate / the Gin Bar, La Parada, the Whisky Bar, Biergarten, Fuji Yumi and Mesopotamia.

If you're staying at the hostel and decide to have a late night it is nice to know that 91 Loop as the 24-hour reception.

Price - from R220 - R2000 per person per night

Fun facts - All of their rooms are named after big cities in the southern hemisphere, like Johannesburg, Rio de Janeiro, Lima, La Paz, Nairobi or Melbourne.

In the near future - they plan on extending their sleeping space with a whole new floor where they will include rooms and dorms named after northern hemisphere cities.

Soon they will also have their own Sorbet salon - so you can get nails, massages and waxes done before hitting the town (or sack).

Do more - Being the inventive and creative little clan that they are - every night turns into a party of sorts. From movie nights, pub quizzes, communal braais, dance offs and comedy nights - they don't hold back the fun.

The vibe - This is no run of the mill boring, cheapy dorm room. It seems locals come with the intention of being seen, meeting a cute foreigner and getting boozy in the courtyard. Most are dressed up and smelling very sexy.

In three hot words - Vibey, boozy and fun!
