Cape Town - It's what any wildlife photographer's dreams are made of: thinking you're going to capture a relatively mundane moment and then as the shutter goes, managing to shoot something seriously spectacular.
Traveller24 reader, Fred Slotow sent in an incredible shot of the moment a crocodile snapped its jaws at a wildebeest and sent the herbivore leaping into the air.
"It was a very lucky shot! I cannot believe that it would actually be possible to prepare for such an action shot. I just happened to be taking a photo of a wildebeest drinking and did not even see a croc (neither did he).

As I clicked a croc attacked. It happened so fast that I was not even aware of it, my wife saw the attack. I only saw it on review," Slotow explained.
He added that the pic was taken at the dam near Satara rest camp and that there were about 20 other vehicles at the spot, but that none were positioned to see the incident.
"Despite the full daylight, the speed the wildebeest jumped back at was so fast as to cause a 2nd image (you will see part image if you look below the tail of wildebeest)," he said.
