Africa is one of the top 20 best countries in the world to raise a family.
This is according to 14 000 foreign expats living in countries across the world who took part in the survey run by international website Expat Insider.
Overall, South Africa scored a lowly 49th when it comes to the world's most appealing destinations for expats in the world, but when it comes to Family Life category SA came in 18th, beating the UK who came in 22nd.
The Expat Insider survey found the three most appealing destinations for worldwide expats to be Ecuador, Mexico and Malta.
The Best Place to Raise a Family category took into consideration four sub-categories, including availability of Childcare and Education where South Africa scored well, ranking in position 11 overall.
SA ranked 20th for the Cost of Childcare and Education and Quality of Education sub-categories. The worst performing sub-catergory for South Africa however was in the area of health and safety for children
