Cape Town - When two guys from South Africa were a little low on cash whilst in the United States of America, they did what any smart entrepreneur would: they got hold of two yellow vests and took up car guarding for a day, thinking it will help them get a bit of cash flow going.
The two guys, none other than Nic Smal and Gareth Allison from Derick Watts and the Sunday Blues, didn't get what they bargained for, however.
The Americans struggled to understand the concept of car guarding as a whole, which made Smal and Allison's job particularly challenging.
They were were suspicious of the new car guards that helped them back up their vehicles with the distinctive short sharp whistle a good car watch usually uses. They didn't even appreciate the distinctive car guard small talk when they returned to their vehicles after leaving it under the guard's protection for the day.
See the poor South Africans try their luck here
It was an exhausting experience to say the least, and the worst part is that the poor guys didn't even make a single dollar throughout the entire day.
Here's betting the Derick Watts and the Sunday Blues duo have a new-found respect for this humble, proudly South African profession. We surely do.
