Cape Town - It's only spring but you wouldn't know it, according to the maximum temperatures being experienced across Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
The South African Weather Service has advised of extremely high temperatures across Gauteng, Free State, the North West Province, southern parts of Limpopo, eastern parts of Northern Cape and northern parts of Eastern Cape.
Vanetia Phakula for the South African weather services said the heat wave conditions are expected to continue until Thursday.
According to Phakula "When maximum temperatures surpass the average maximum temperatures for three consecutive days, we have a heat wave".

Last week, Tshwane residents were also warned about a passing heat wave in the area, with those at risk of heat exhausting being advised to take the necessary precautions.

Heat exhaustion occurs when the body cools itself by sweating. Should sweating be insufficient to meet the cooling demands of the body, heat-related illnesses can occur.
