PICS: Passenger's terrifying tweets of plane skidding off runway

Cape Town - It's strange the things that would drive social media-phobes to revive their accounts.

KLM passenger Vincent Verweij managed to attract huge amounts of attention to his underutilised Twitter account on Wednesday when he tweeted terrifying photos of the Boeing 747 he was on board that had skidded off the runway at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam.

Daily Mail reports that the plane, which had flown in from Nairobi, Kenya, had just landed when it suddenly veered off course and skidded onto the grass next to the runway.

According to Verweij's tweets, passengers were informed that the plane had suffered problems with its breaks.
