Johannesburg – South African Airways cancelled its flights between Johannesburg and Port Louis in Mauritius on Tuesday, due to adverse weather caused by tropical cyclone Bansi.
Flight SA190 from Johannesburg to Port Louis and flight SA191 from Port Louis to Johannesburg for today have been cancelled.
“The adverse weather conditions associated with tropical cyclone Bansi in Mauritius are below SAA operational limits and for that reason we have taken a decision to cancel all flights for today between Johannesburg and Port Louis. The safety of our passengers and crew was a key consideration in taking this decision,” said SAA Spokesperson, Tlali Tlali in a statement.
SAA will resume flights on this sector as soon as the weather conditions improve and it is safe to commence with the operations.
“We truly apologise for the inconvenience caused to our customers due to the flight cancellations. The decision was taken with their best interests at heart,” Tlali added.
The airline has said that it will maintain contact with the Mauritian authorities and will provide an update through its official channels.
SAA ticketed customers affected by the above flight cancellations will be offered assistance either via SAA’s Call Centre’s, City Ticket Offices, Airport Ticket Offices, or customers may contact their travel agents directly.
