Cape Town - If you need a drinking buddy, opt for an Aussie. Fancy an undisturbed flight? Choose a seat next to a Chinese traveller. Or if you're up for a chat, dare to be seated next to a talkative British or German fellow.
A recent survey by the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX), that shows how various nationalities usually behave on international flights, may help you find the ideal isle-sharer for your next dreaded flight.

The survey sheds light on how different nationalities generally behave and shows the favourite in-flight activities passengers get up to.
The survey even shows how passengers feel about the mile-high meal they're served and, surprisingly, 70% of people actually like the food served on airplanes... in economy class. Nothing like a good ol' vacuum-sealed ready meal, you know.
When it comes to mid-flight activities, it seems as if sleeping is the most practiced of them all. In-flight entertainment, leisurely reading and playing and/or working on personal electronic devices are of the tavelling folks' favourites, too.
Eating is seen as a majorly popular activity too, as 51% of flyers buy snacks and meals on their flights.
(For a special breed of passengers, however, the favourite in-flight activity is behaving shamelessly and unapologetically rude on a flight... Don't believe us? Just take a look at the shameless people on planes and the mile-high shenanigans they get up to.)
24% of flyers purchase alcohol on a flight. According to the survey, 27% of men and 20% of women enjoy their high-altitude drinks. 36% of these drinkers are Australian. So, if you're looking for a fellow flyer to knock a few back with, the dude from Down Under is your guy.
