Cape Town - Mantis has confirmed its renowned Zambezi Queen luxury river boat will now form part of the Zambezi Queen Collection, teaming up with three smaller existing luxury river boats, previously known as Ichobezi Safariboats as well as The Pride of the Zambezi.
The three safari boats have been renamed the Chobe Princesses and joins the Zambezi Queen as part of Mantis's Chobe River cruise offering. Located conveniently close to Kasane, these luxurious boats which have all recently undergone a major refurbishment and captures the spirit and adventure of a bygone era in a contemporary African setting.
The entertainment decks have been completely revamped, air-conditioning has been added to all the suites, and the boats now have a contemporary look and feel that's similar to the Zambezi Queen.
The Chobe River borders the 1.4 million hectare Chobe Game Reserve, and the ZQ Collection offers the unique opportunity to experience superb game viewing from on board the boats rather than a standard safari in the back of a game viewing vehicle.
Chobe is famous both locally and internationally for fantastic game viewing, most notably its huge herds of elephant. All the other members of Africa's Big 5 can also be seen, along with giraffe, zebra, wild dog, hippo and a multitude of antelope species. The birdlife too is equally impressive with over 420 bird species spotted on a regular basis.
The Chobe River is also a premier fishing destination for bream and Tiger, one of the world's most sought after fighting fish.
When to go: South Africans are advised to go in the off-season, when rates are significantly lower, and the experience is less crowed.
