Cape Town - If you spotted a gargantuan yacht making its way through Cape Town's streets before dawn this past Saturday... you were not dreaming.
The Department of Transport and Public Works in the Western Cape approved an application for an abnormal load from Teemane Crane (Pty) Ltd, for the transportation of a 31 meter, 37 ton yacht last week.
The yacht was transported from the Southern Wind Shipyard in Athlone to the Cape Town Harbour in the early hours of Saturday morning, using a very roundabout route, as depicted in the map below:
While we can give you the dimensions of the yacht, which was named Seawave - they are 31 702mm (length), 6 905mm (width) 4 410mm (height) and weight is 37 284kg - figures don't really have as much of an impact as visuals do.

And finally in the sea!
Four City of Cape Town Traffic Services vehicles and personnel were deployed to escort the combination on the detailed route which was approved by Cape Town City Council and the Seawave was safely delivered to her new home - the ocean - early on Saturday morning.
