Cape Town - Murals by the mysterious English graffiti artist, Banksy, have been appearing on walls across Gaza, baffling locals and thrilling fans.
Apart from the murals he also shot a short film, documenting his trip and posted it to his YouTube channel.
Using sharp irony, the clip starts with a classic 'travel inspiration' shot of an airplane wing through a window, soaring high above the clouds, with the words 'Make this the year YOU discover a new destination' appearing and shortly after 'Welcome to Gaza.'
What follows is a montage of images capturing the war-torn state of the Palestinian territory, accompanied by seemingly incongruous, typical travel brochure type descriptions:
"Well away from the tourist track... (Access is via a network of illegal tunnels)"
"The locals like it so much, they never leave... (Because they're not allowed to)"
"Nestled in an exclusive setting... (Surrounded by a wall on three sides and gun boats on the other)"
Along with striking murals, like one of a watchtower becoming a merry-go-round for children, the message he's trying to relay is clear and fits right in with the politically-driven artworks he has become known for.
