10 things that make Wacky Wine cool
- The Buddy Bus and Designated Drivers
Considering the zero-tolerance protocol, the Buddy Bus will ensure you have the best time at the WWW without having to take chances. The Buddy Buses need to be booked before Friday, 29 May.
The WWW also compiled a list of assigned designated drivers whom you can contact beforehand, or at the WWW.
You can book these guardian angels to drive your car FOR you if everyone in your group is keen to taste some wines. You can view the list of designated drivers, along with other safe tasting options, here.
- Tickets won’t EVER sell out
So you don’t have to come early or queue in order to ensure your WWW. Just rock up on any participating wine farm, pay your dues and let the fun and games begin.
- There are fly-in packages for people coming from far (the packages are all-inclusive)
The WWW is not only for Western Capies. Check out the awesome offers here.
- You get to go on a donkey cart drive
Because who doesn’t want to hitch a ride on a donkey cart en route to a next wine tasting?
- The WWW supports the local community
Why not drop off a warm winter blanket for people who desperately need it before you head out to enjoy some wine? See more about the Wacky Charity Drive here.
- You can blend your own master vintage
Who doesn’t want to create their own wine? I do. That’s why I’m heading to either Excelsior or Wandsbeck Wines to create my own signature bottle of wine.
The original Wine Blending experience happens at Excelsior. Here you can blend, bottle and label your own creation. No bookings required.
Cost: R60
Times: Thursday 10:00-16:00, Friday 10:00-17:00, Saturday 10:00-17:00, Sunday 10:00-15:00
- Kids will be entertained throughout the festival
Wine farms like McGregor Winery, Excelsior, Wonderfontein, Wolfkloof and Rivergold estates will offer all sorts of awesome children’s activities – think pony rides, jumping castles, tractor rides and barrel rolling.
It's not only fun and games for the little ones, though. The wine farms make great effort to involve tasting troops in fun, wine-inspired activities throughout the weekend.
- It’s the epitome of festive street food eating
Imagine relaxing on your favourite Robertson Valley Wine Farm with a glass of good vino in one hand, and delicious street fare in the other. Think rustic steak rolls, crusty pizzas and a great selection of fine cheeses, olives and cured meats. Delightful.
- There will be tasteful tunes setting the festive mood
Live jams will be the background noise on nearly all participating Roberstson Wine Valley farms. These laid-back, toe-tapping tunes will set the perfect mood for a wine-drenched autumn afternoon.
- Everyone will be there
Your Instagram account would look rather bleak if you’re the only one of your friends not heading to this calendar highlight this year.
- Bonus reason – WINE!
If all the above reasons fail to inspire you – this one should do it.
