Home affairs extends office hours

Pretoria – In order to provide a higher quality of service, the Department of Home Affairs has introduced new office hours.

SAnews.gov.za reports that the new office hours will be from 07:30 to 16:30, including a half-an-hour lunch break.

However, hours for client services will be from 08:00 to 16:00.

This change in times will be implemented from Monday, 23 March 2015.

Home Affairs Director-General, Mkuseli Apleni, said the decision on new business hours followed an extensive consultative process with organized labour as well as benchmarking with the relevant internal and external stakeholders.

He added that they expected the new hours will benefit the organisation as a whole, as it will afford managers and staff sufficient time to interact with each other on service delivery matters and assist in minimising time spent in queues by clients.

Apleni said that these changes are part of the department’s broader drive to improve the quality of service.
