Cape Town - Opel has added a limited edition to its local Adam ranged, the new Adam Rocks crossover, with only 150 units available in South Africa.
The Adam Rocks is, says Opel, inspired by parkour and is what the automaker calls a mini-CUV (Cross Utility Vehicle). The new Adam Rocks 1.0T ecoFlex is priced at R273 400.

The new crossover forms part of a local model assault by Opel, with 29 new cars headed for SA from 2016.
Seeking affluent SA buyers
According to Opel: "The Adam Rocks expands on the Adam persona, with added details such as a swing top canvas roof, increased ride height, chunky cladding around the wheel arches and along the sills, and front and rear skid plates. On one hand it’s a micro-crossover and on the other a free-spirited baby convertible."
Opel says the new crossover is a deliberate attempt to extend the Adam appeal to more affluent buyers in SA. and is aimed at "trend-oriented urban adventurers". The crossover benefits from the accessories fitted to the range-topping Adam Glam with added features and design cues.
Power
It's powered by Opel’s three-cylinder 1.0 litre turbo petrol capable of 85kW/170Nm mated to a six-speed manual. Fuel consumption is rated at a claimed 5.0 litres/100km with emissions of 115g/km. For suspension it's fitted with a McPherson Strut (front) and a torsion bar (rear), its body has been raised by 15mm and it uses 225/35/18 tyres. It has a body width of 1.8m and a wheelbase of 2.3m.
Lots of kit and tech
Inside it has metal pedals (with rubber studs), thick-rimmed steering wheel, climate control, height-adjustable driver’s seat, height/reach adjustable steering, power windows, cruise control and a split/foldable rear seat.
The centre console features a high-resolution 7" touchscreen with Opel’s Intellilink system which sync’s with the user’s cellphone, enabling the driver to listen to music, and use compatible Apps loaded to their phone (both Android and iOS). According to Opel, a number of Apps are pre-loaded, including BringGo navigation and TuneIn internet radio.
Safety
It terms of safety it has six airbags, Isofix child-seat anchors, dual seatbelt pretensioners, stability control (ESP), anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlights, hill assist, auto-dimming rear-view mirror and a tyre-pressure monitor.
The Adam Rocks is equipped with Opel's advanced park assist which is capable of automatically parking into a bay. The system takes control of steering while teh driver operates gears, throttle and brakes.
The side-blind spot alert uses sensors to scan the vehicle's blind spots, alerting the driver of anything in a 4m "danger zone" by either blinking or solid LED lights.
The Rocks has Siri Eyes Free, a unique-in-class feature that integrates the Intellilink system with later-generation iPhones and iPads via a USB cable and voice control.
The new Adam rocks is sold with a five-year or 120 000km warranty, roadside assistance, and three-years or 60 000km service plan.
