Twilight reimagined: Bella's a boy!

accreditation
According to Entertainment Weekly, the 442-page reimagined tale features Bella Swan and Edward Cullen as Beau (short for Beaufort) and Edyth respectively.

The new novel called, Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined was written in honour of the original novel’s 10th anniversary and as a response to the criticism received for Bella Swan’s weak-willed character.

In Twilight, Bella has always been the character that needed rescuing. She was also criticised for being a love-sick teen obsessed with nothing but Edward Cullen. Meyer attempts to address this in the book.

The 41-year-old author told Entertainment Weekly that writing the novel was “easy and a lot of fun”, and when writing this, it made her rework, rewrite and rethink her process regarding her previous books in the series.

The release of the Twilight series back in October 2005 saw Meyer gain world recognition and sent the entire world into a Twihard frenzy, especially after the debut of the film adaptation in 2008.

This is great news for Twilight fans, as Meyer disappointed them following the leaked release of Midnight Sun, which was supposed to be a retold story from Edward’s perspective. Since the 12 chapters were leaked, Meyer has put the project on hold and loaded the chapters onto her site where fans can read it for free.
