Los Angeles - Barack Obama sent a message of condolence to Joan Rivers' daughter.
The US president wrote a hand-written message to Melissa Rivers following the passing of the 81-year-old star - who died earlier this month after suffering a cardiac arrest while undergoing throat surgery - in which he praised her thought-provoking humour.
Melissa recently spoke out to thank fans for their messages of support following her mother's death

Speaking on a Fashion Police: Celebrating Joan special which airs in the US on Friday, Melissa said: "She affected so many people, and people you would never expect to have humour."
