Kanye West admits his father was once a paparazzo

Los Angeles - Kanye West's father used to be a paparazzo.

The Bound 2 hitmaker revealed his dad Ray West was a photographer during his deposition last year after paparazzi Daniel Ramos sued the rapper for allegedly attacking him at Los Angeles' LAX airport.

According to MailOnline, who obtained a copy of the discussion, Kanye told Ramos' lawyer Nate Goldberg: "My father was a paparazzo himself. My father was a medical illustrator, a Black Panther, a Christian marriage counsellor.

"My mother was the first black chair of the English department in Chicago State. They didn't raise me to be out here wrestling with random paparazzi in front of LAX."

Kanye also revealed he had only just discovered his grandfather Portwood Williams Senior was dying when the incident occurred and while he praised the actions of some photographers, admitting they often help him out when he is trying to park his car, he had no kind words for Ramos.

He added: "Sometimes I get in the car with the paparazzi. Paparazzi help me to park," West told Ramos' lawyer Nate Goldberg.

"The paparazzi watch my car and makes sure that cops don't give me tickets. There are some nice guys out here trying to just feed their family.

"And then there's asshole like the guy you're representing."

Kanye - who has 14-month-old daughter North West with wife Kim Kardashian West - was sentenced to two years probation, 250 hours community service and anger management sessions after allegedly attacking Ramos and damaging his camera outside LAX airport in Los Angeles in July 2013.
