Shia LaBeouf finally reveals the truth behind what happened the night of his dramatic arrest

Los Angeles - Shia LaBeouf feared he was going to die when he was taken into police custody so he stripped off and started doing push-ups.

The 28-year-old star admits his drunk self worried he wouldn't survive when he was put in a cell with six guys after being arrested for disorderly conduct in June while he watched Broadway play Cabaret, and in a dramatic attempt to get out he "turned into" late rapper Tupac by frantically exercising before spitting on an officer's shoe.

He recalled: "I get to the station and I quickly realise, I'm not supposed to be here. I'm not made for this set up.

"So I'm like, 'You gotta do something. You gotta do something, man. You're gonna die in here.' So I turn into Tupac and now I'm ripping my shirt off and doing push-ups like, 'Don't mess with me dawg.' And the guy's like, 'What are you in here for?' And I'm like, Cabaret.

"So then they finger print me, do the whole business, and I'm like, 'I gotta get out of this little cell with these six dudes. I'm tripping.' So I figured I'm gonna spit on this cop's shoe, that's my way out."

While Shia recently publicly apologised for spitting on the officer's shoe, the action achieved what he wanted it to at the time and he was led away to his own room and given a McDonald's egg sandwich while he calmed down, but was forced to wear a Hannibal Lecter type restraint mask.

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he added: "So I spit on his shoe and I'm looking at him, and it was my way out. He put a mask on me, a Hannibal mask and a lead jacket and ushered me to my private little dwelling where I sat for 25 hours and then they gave me a McDonald's egg sandwich."

Shia recalled being drunk earlier that eventful evening while watching a World Cup soccer game in Times Square and engaging in a conversation with a homeless man who later ran off.

The Transformers star ran after the guy and later returned to the bar to pay his bill when a fan who starred in Cabaret offered him a ticket to the show.

While watching the performance, Shia claims star Alan Cumming winked at him so when the actor walked past him he slapped his butt "because I think he deserves it".

Recalling the incident, he said: "He's seducing me. He's the sexiest man I've ever seen ... I slapped and grabbed him. I grabbed his whole cheek because I wanted the party right here in my pants.

"He finds a way to wiggle out of my Hercules grip and I'm a little disappointed about it so I think it's about time to have another cigarette."

Shia, who has recently undergone treatment for an alcohol problem, was later ushered outside the theatre to find six police officers waiting to arrest him.

He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in September but a judge ruled his plea would be dismissed and he would avoid both jail time and probation if he had treatment for another three months and stayed out of trouble for six.
