Cape Town - Horror flicks are a great treat for some and a total nightmare for others, but seeing as people will be dressed up in all kinds of freaky costumes this Friday, we thought we'd give you something else to keep you entertained this Halloween.
So in keeping with the ghastly, bloody, spooky theme of Halloween, we put together five horror movies that you have to see, no excuses!
There's a strong possibility that you will not be able to sleep after watching these films. Don't say we didn't warn you.
1. Annabelle
This supernatural horror film from director John R Leonetti, starring Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton and Alfre Woodard will have you second guessing that decision you made to buy your daughter that cute little dolly at the mall.
2. Nightmare on Elm Street
Written and directed by Wes Craven, this supernatural slasher horror film tells the story of Tina Gray, a high school student who one night has a horrific nightmare. When Tina wakes up in the morning there is evidence that her "nightmare" may have been real. That creepy song will be stuck in your head long after the credits have rolled.
3. The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Starring Laura Linney alongside Tom Wilkinson, this spooky courtroom drama horror film tells the story of Father Richard Moore who is charged with homicide when a young girl dies after a failed exorcism. It will have you shivering in your boots!
4. Halloween
Released in 1978, Halloween stars Jamie Lee Curtis, the queen of scream. This movie chronicles the creepy events that follow after a 6 year old boy stabs his sister to death with a kitchen knife.
This 1974 classic is just what the doctor ordered if you are looking for the ultimate in horror flicks. Sally Hardesty and her paraplegic brother, Franklin, pick up a hitchhiker on their way to visit their grandfather's grave. Their good deed leads to a bloody nightmare.
