Afrikaans film Die Windpomp wins big at Silwerskerm Festival awards

Cape Town – The winners of the kykNet Silwerskerm Festival awards were announced this weekend at a glitzy ceremony at The Bay Hotel in Camps Bay.

Anne Hirsch and Francios Toerien were the hosts for the evening and kept the audience in stitches all night.

This year the awards were divided into two categories.

In the first category, all the Afrikaans films that were released from 1 September 2013 – 31 August 2014 are up for nomination for the Annual National Silwerskerm awards.  

The second category consist of all the films that premiered at the festival as well as the short films. During the festival all the short films are judged by a panel and voted for by the festivalgoers. The nominations were announced on 30 August and included the following categories: Best Short Film, Best Festival Film and Viewers Choice.
