Channing Tatum to star in, produce and direct new project

Los Angeles - Channing Tatum will produce, direct and star in Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock.

The Foxcatcher star and his Free Association producing partner Reid Carolin are searching for a writer to adapt the novel written by Matthew Quick - who also penned Silver Linings Playbook - so they can begin work on making the movie, which is set in a high school, the Hollywood Reporter claims.

The story follows a troubled student who plots a murder-suicide pact with his best friend before a courageous teacher - who is likely to be played by Tatum - steps in to try and intervene.

Tatum and Reid are planning to co-direct the film and will produce alongside The Weinstein Company's Peter Kiernan.

The 34-year-old actor can currently be seen on the big screen in Foxcatcher and recently wrapped filming on his stripper sequel Magic Mike XXL. He is also attached to appear in Hail, Caesar and X-Men spin-off Gambit.

Behind the camera, he and Carolin are attached to co-direct an adaptation of Jo Nesbo's novel The Son.

Tatum was originally tipped to direct Magic Mike XXL - which he co-wrote - but the job went to Gregory Jacobs.
