Steve Carell to star in Looney Tunes movie?

Los Angeles - A Looney Tunes movie starring Steve Carell is in the works.

The carton television series, featuring the well-loved characters Bugs Bunny, Tweety and the Tasmanian Devil, is being turned into a film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The site believes that a CGI-live action movie based on the cartoon starring the Looney Tunes cast is in the pipeline, and Lego Movie producers Dan Lin and Roy Lee are keen to be involved in the process.

Anchorman actor Steve Carell is allegedly attached to the film, which is currently going by the name untitled Acme project - a reference to the fictional company used within the Looney Tunes universe.

The Hollywood Reporter also says that X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are on board to help with the plot.

Directors John Requa and Glenn Ficarra are rumoured to be directing the film - the pair have previously worked with Steve Carell on the 2011 film Crazy, Stupid Love.

It's not the first time a Looney Tunes movie has been attempted. In 2003, Looney Tunes: Back In Action was released, starring the vocal talents of Steve Martin, Brendan Fraser and Heather Locklear.

The Looney Tunes also appeared in the 1990s film Space Jam, which featured NBA star Michael Jordan.
