What's it about:

A 12-year-old boy whose parents just got divorced begins to hang out with his next door neighbour Vincent (Bill Murray), a cantankerous, misanthropic war veteran. The man teaches the boy all about gambling, fighting, stealing, and other guy stuff, to the horror of the local parish priest (Chris O'Dowd), who's offended by the terrible life lessons Vincent chooses to teach the impressionable kid.

What we though:

What is a Saint? At first hand, one would take a religious definition saying that a saint is a holy figure who highlights leadership and kind qualities.

While the definition does the word justice, the question stands: does it have to be a holy figure?

St Vincent brings new light to what a Saint may be when a young boy finds a friend in his pessimistic, alcoholic war veteran neighbour.

This unconventional relationship blossoms into something heroic not only for the boy but for all characters involved as well as the audience, when the boy is asked to find a good example of a Saint in the modern world.

Bill Murray who plays Vincent, the grumpy aged neighbour, brings new light to how first impressions can be totally misleading and how digging a little deeper and giving second chances can change someone’s life in positive ways.

His Oscar worthy acting will tap into the hearts of viewers not through humour, frustration and anger but through the love and kindness when things take a turn for the worst.

Melissa McCarthy who plays a divorcee and the mother of Jaeden Lieberher (Oliver) takes on a more serious role and manages to pull the persona off in the best way possible.

Not only does the acting add to the script but the music and extras used to tie everything together makes for a beautiful story line told in an unconventional and realistic way.

Bringing a new definition to the word, "A Saint is a human being we celebrate for the sacrifices that they make or their commitment to making the world a better place."
