Bloemfontein – Various Hollywood stars have taken action to raise money for victims of the devastating earthquake that hit Japan on Friday.
The Black Eyed Peas shot their new music video
Just Can’t Get Enough in the Japanese capital Tokyo, just a week before the quake.
The music video ends with the message: "This video was filmed in Japan a week before the earthquake. We send our thoughts and our prayers to all the people of Japan".
At the end of the video information about The Red Cross’s relief fund is provided along with instructions on how and where to donate.
The music video is being released worldwide today.
Stars for Red crossLady Gaga designed a red and white bracelet which reads "We Pray For Japan" in both English and Japanese and shows a red hand in a 'paw' signal.
R1, 7m was raised on the first day of sales. All money will be donated to relief funds for the devastated country.
Katy Perry, P. Diddy, Chris Brown and Linkin Park encouraged fans through Twitter to donate money to the Red Cross.
“Imagine... if we ALL texted REDCROSS to 90999 we'd have raised over 60million dollars for #JAPAN REFLIEF! BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE! BE!” tweeted Perry.
Charlie Sheen’s donationControversial actor, Charlie Sheen announced that he plans to donate money to the Red Cross through ticket sales for his upcoming live shows.
He donated one dollar for every ticket sold. His first performance was sold out within 17 minutes.
Walt Disney Studios also announced that they will be donating R15m to the American Red Cross.
Robert A. Iger said that the company carries the people of Japan in their hearts.
