VIDEO: Oscar Pistorius on Jay Leno
Johannesburg - Star
Olympian Oscar Pistorius has found a place in many a South African’s
heart – but he is the ultimate player, says his ex-girlfriend Samantha
Taylor.
“Oscar is certainly not what people think he is. We dated
for a year and a half,” the Cape Town marketing student told City Press
on Friday night.
In September she and Oscar appeared on the beaches of the Seychelles in the SABC3 magazine show Top Billing.
But last Sunday he arrived at the SA Sports Awards bash in Sandton with another blonde bombshell – FHM model Reeva Steenkamp.
Tongues wagged.
Just friends
“Where
is Samantha?” people asked when Pistorius and Steenkamp arrived in the
same car and posed smiling for the cameras on the red carpet.
He was in an Armani suit, she was in a short, pink, tassled frock.
“We’re just friends. I promise I’ll tell you if there’s anything more,” Steenkamp said.
“It’s just a coincidence that we’re sitting at the same table and arrived in the same car,” she told City Press, blushing.
Later she was spotted at Pistorius’ side during the winners’ press conference, and at the end of the evening they left together.
Taylor
initially told City Press Reeva is dating one of Pistorius’ friends,
and later said the model was fully aware of what had happened in her and
Oscar’s relationship.
Withdrew everything
“She has been following me for a long time
on Instagram (a photo-sharing system on Twitter) and knows exactly
where I am and everything going on in my relationship with Oscar,” she
said.
She confirmed she and Pistorius had recently split after a year and a half.
“Oscar has such a way with women. She’s probably not the only one he’s got.”
Though
Samantha and Oscar only separated recently, The New York Post reported
in July that he was often in the company of Russian-born supermodel
Anastassia Khozissova.
The newspaper reported that when Pistorius
made it to the Olympic 400 metre semifinal, Khozissova, who regularly
walks the runway for Chanel, Prada and Ralph Lauren tweeted:
“Yeeeees!!!!!”.
In her interview with City Press’ sister
newspaper Rapport, Taylor first said she was “prepared to reveal what
(Pistorius) made me go through”, but in a lawyer’s letter late on Friday
evening she withdrew everything she had said.
This was after her earlier request for a personal meeting with the newspaper.
“We
have considered our client’s communication with you and request you to
disregard it. Our client withdraws her statements and requests you not
to contact her again,” wrote June Marks, Taylor’s lawyer.
Later, on Saturday morning, Taylor tweeted: “I’m not perfect and I don’t live to
be. But before you judge me, make sure your slate is clean.”
Pistorius did not respond to City Press’ calls and SMSes. Peet van Zyl, his manager, did not respond either.
His
father, Henke Pistorius, said: “I know nothing about it (his
relationship with Taylor and friendship with Steenkamp). I do not
interfere in his private affairs.”
