Cape Town – Discovery Networks International (DNI) has commissioned a special, once-off, hour long documentary looking at the facts, unavailable information and the on-going mystery of the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, entitled Flight 370: The Missing Links, which will be shown on the Discovery Channel (DStv 121) on 20 April at 20:00.
For Flight 370: The Missing Links, Discovery gathered aviation and security experts to try and find answers to the mystery of the missing passenger jet for which an on-going search effort is underway in the Indian Ocean.
"Flight 370: The Missing Links looks to industry experts to find out just how it is possible to lose track of an airliner – analysing evidence, deliberating the global frailties of aviation and divulging potential solutions to prevent the disappearance of an aircraft from ever happening again," says Discovery.
"It is hard to believe that in an era of groundbreaking technological advancements an aeroplane can simply disappear without any concrete clues to its location," says Lee Hobbs, the channel director for emerging business for Discovery Networks for the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA) region.
"It proves that technology is indeed fallible. Everyone is eager to know what could have happened and Discovery Channel is always looking to provide answers to those unanswered questions," says Hobbs.
The special looks at how an airliner and its 239 passengers and crew can simply vanish. "Since Flight MH 370 went off the grid on 8 March 2014, questions about flight safety have once again taken centre stage".
"In an attempt to answer some of these questions, Flight 370: The Missing Links addresses seven missing links: airport security, air traffic control, on-board communication systems, mechanical failure, tracking – both radar and satellite, international cooperation and the black box".
