Awkies! Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon could be work 'buddies'

Los Angeles - Mariah Carey is in talks to join America's Got Talent.

The 45-year-old singer, who split from the show's host Nick Cannon last June after six years of marriage, is reportedly being lined up to fill in for judge Mel B just in case she needs time off during filming since she missed the final episode of The X Factor last year due to a mysterious illness.

A source said: "They want to tap Mariah to fill in just in case Mel B [Melanie Brown] needs some time off. Mariah has made it clear that she'd go for it if the scheduling worked out."

Despite splitting from Mariah, Nick, 34, has given producers the green light to hire his estranged wife.
The insider said: "He shocked everyone when he said it was a great idea.

"Having Mariah on the show would make it must-see TV."

Judge Howard Stern, who recently confirmed he is leaving the NBC series after the current season, is also keen to have Mariah on board.

The source told Life & Style magazine: "Howard Stern would love to see that happen. He wants to get Mariah and Nick together and see some fireworks!"

Mariah previously worked as a judge on American Idol but later blasted it as the worst experience of her life.
She said: ''It's so boring and so fake. I'm sorry I just think it's... when i say it's fake... I mean like you have to make up things to say about people.

''Half the time the performances are good, you just be like 'it was good' and you feel like ending it there: 'You were really good'.''
