As reported by City Press on Sunday, Safa and Bafana Bafana players have reached an agreement on their bonus structure for their participation in the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Safa stated on Sunday night confirming a memorandum of understanding had been signed by the two parties at their training base in Stellenbosch.

According to Safa president Danny Jordaan, the players are set to pocket R7 million each if they lift the trophy. However, they will get nothing if they fail to win the championship.

“We want to make sure every box is ticked. Everything is in place for them to deliver on football and give us the kind of performance that will make the nation take a deep breath and say we have a team. We want the team to focus and perform and we don’t want to waste time discussing unnecessary stuff,” Jordaan said.

Last week CAF announced a 40% increase in prize money for the tournament which will see winners taking home R171 million, while the runners-up will get R75 million. The semifinalists will receive R47 million and all teams that will see their journey end in the quarterfinals will collect R24.4 million.

Bafana are set to leave for Ivory Coast later this week.
