Japan - Toyota said Wednesday that its group's global sales grew 4.5% to 10.13 million vehicles in the previous financial year thanks to robust sales in China and the United States.
Toyota said its group's global production in the year through March rose 5.3% to 10.24 million units. It was the first time that the group's both global sales and production topped 10 million in a financial year.
The Toyota group, including Daihatsu and Hino Motors, saw its domestic sales grew 3.9% to 2.4 million vehicles, while its overseas sales climbed 4.7% to 7.73 million.
In March, the world's largest carmaker saw its domestic sales jump 13.4% from a year earlier to 322 252 units, due mainly to last-minute buying before an increase in the nation's sales tax was introduced in April.
Toyota will report its earnings for the previous financial year on May 8.
