Berlin - A fourth and concluding round of German public-sector pay negotiations got under way in the town of Potsdam near Berlin on Saturday, with both sides signalling a willingness to compromise ahead of the talks.
The head of the Verdi public-sector trade union, Frank Bsirske, demanded an offer from the employers before the talks started, stressing that there would not be another round of talks after this.
The unions have staged a series of strikes to press their demands for a 5.5% pay rise, or at least €175 more each month.
