London - Europe's main stock markets rose at the open on Thursday on company updates and as investors assessed the US Federal Reserve's outlook for the economy.
London's benchmark FTSE 100 index gained 0.64% to 6 673.21 points compared with Wednesday's close.
Frankfurt's DAX 30 advanced 0.83% to 11 305.46 points and the CAC 40 in Paris climbed 0.63% to 5 049.24.
Asian stock markets mostly closed higher on Thursday, tracking a rally in New York, while the dollar advanced after the Federal Reserve upgraded its outlook on the US economy, traders said.
