First iPhone buyer drops it!

Cape Town - As Apple's iPhone went on sale on Friday, one fan's heart jumped into his throat as he dropped his brand new iPhone soon after purchasing it.

Apple fans in Australia were among the first to rush stores on Friday as the new larger iPhone went on sale, and TV cameras were on hand to capture the excitement.

Perth News posted a video on YouTube showing a young man known as Jack who had patiently waited to buy his new iPhone.

As he took it out of the box to show viewers, the phone fell to the ground. After a brief moment of panic, Jack can be heard off camera saying "All good" as he picked up his device.

Apple released the iPhone 6 on Friday which runs the new iOS 8 operating system which has also become available for older models.

Complaints

Some users of previous model iPhones have complained on social media that iOS 8 takes up too much space on their devices.

Here are a couple of tweets that illustrate the frustrations with the new Apple operating system:

The latest version of the iPhone OS is about 4.6GB installed on the device and iPhone users can typically not move content to a memory card on the phone.

It is recommended that users who wish to upgrade to the latest version should use iTunes to backup personal data on a PC before proceeding.

Given the size of the update, it is best to run it over a secure Wi-Fi network.
