ANN7 fail on Twitter

Cape Town - News channel ANN7 has tripped over itself by posting content on social media that appears to confuse the revenue service with the Reserve Bank.

In a Twitter post on Wednesday, the news service posted a story about the alleged power struggle at the SA Revenue Service (Sars) in which DA leader Helen Zille accused the Presidency of being linked to the suspension of Sars service staff members

However, the Twitter post instead depicted former reserve bank governor Gill Marcus.

The Africa News Network channel, brainchild of the powerful Gupta family, has not been without controversy.

Soon after its inception in 2013, a number of on-air errors were widely shared on online video platforms like YouTube, but these were promptly blocked by threats of litigation.

*ANN7 has since removed the tweet.
