Cape Town - Technology inevitably makes an impact on our lives, but one sexually frustrated husband took it to the next level with a spreadsheet that charted his wife's apparent excuses for not wanting to have sex with him.
The anonymous wife uploaded the spreadsheet to Reddit and it has been reported by a number of sources, including The Telegraph.
She explained her reasoning for sharing the very personal nature of their lives on social media.
"Yesterday morning, while in a taxi on the way to the airport, husband sends a message to my work e-mail which is connected to my phone," she wrote.
"He's never done this, we always communicate in person or by text. I open it up, and it's a sarcastic diatribe basically saying he won't miss me for the 10 days I'm gone.
"Attached is a spreadsheet of all the times he has tried to initiate sex since June 1st, with a column for my 'excuses', using verbatim quotes of why I didn't feel like having sex at that very moment."
Among the excuses listed on the spreadsheet are "I'm exhausted" and "I feel gross" which a number of couples might be able to relate to.
There is also a rejection listed as "Non verbal" which is perhaps less clear, but the list is moreover an indicator of a relationship in trouble.
A number of websites are dedicated to detailing reasons that women avoid sex with their regular intimate partners.
Some suggest that 40% of women have lied about their menstrual cycle to avoid sex, though the study was hardly scientific.
Sarah Stefanson writes on Askmen.com that women find it difficult to consider sex when they have negative emotions.
However, she doesn't discount the fact that sex may be used as a manipulative tool and advises couples to communicate openly about their sexual patterns.
