Microsoft has priced the Xbox to compete with the Sony PlayStation 4 which went on sale in SA earlier in the year.
While gamers are no doubt the primary target market for the Xbox, Microsoft hopes the console will attract non-gamers who will use the device as a home entertainment system.
The Xbox One has a recommended retail price starting at R6 299.99 for the console and R7 999.99 bundled with Kinect.
